Those Righteous People

I'm looking at my cursor blinking over the words "Say something about this" on my Facebook Comment Line for this post and realize it's the Universe speaking to me. So I will.

"No Gays Allowed" laws step up the game, even in this nation of bullies. We subjugate women, exploit the poor, bankrupt the old, stand our ground shooting black people. And now, lawmakers who represent us (that's you and me), passing legislation to make it illegal just to BE somebody in particular that other people don't like. The "United?" States of America has finally reached a point in its history where those people, those righteous, indignant, holy people, can proudly proclaim their insane, warped ideas of right and wrong with no shame or fear of rebuke whatsoever.

Those people. Those righteous, delusional, arrogant bullies. But you know them. You exchange pleasantries as you go through your normal day. You see them in the park, singing in church, laughing in restaurants. They are the people you went to school with, passers by on the street. Sociopathic, pop culture airheads, brainwashed and programmed to demonize the different and perceived least among us, to rain down hatred on them, and call for their systematic extermination.

Those people will cheer the destruction of the lessers, and then go to church on Sunday and lament the unfortunate demise of their friends and acquaintances, co-workers and relatives, the guy they used to have coffee with on Saturday mornings, the woman down the street who used to teach piano... all reduced to 10 or 15 second footnotes. Turning to one another with their best look of fake sadness, "That's such a shame. But, oh well. You know, they should have known better." And then it's on with their own lives. Lives which are now so much nicer, better, proper, upright, sanitized and legal.

How could the people of WWII era Germany could have allowed the Holocaust? This is how. No need for gas chambers or one-way trips in boxcars. Merely make them illegal, outright and in your face. Then before long they will be dead, in jail or gone (or have the appearance thereof). And our society will have been purified of the scourge, the plague, and all will be as it should be in God-Bless-America... and righteous people will be happy. Until they unearth yet another unholier-than-thou group to vilify and expunge. And we let them get away with it.

 

Are you nuts, Michigan?

Well, are you? I must have got it wrong, because the way I understand it, you're allowing your elected representatives to silence a woman - 2 women - 2 people - because they dare to speak about the real issue behind the rhetoric? Come on. Then you think like you play football (come on - had to slip in a little humor - this news story is giving me an upset stomach).

Do Scott Walker and the Koch bros truly own the state? Does everyone up there really believe the election wasn't manipulated by advertising and machine hacking? Are a handful of women the only ones who stand up to these corporate-owned roboreps and their gestapo tactics?

Michigan, open up your collective mouth and support these brave women fighting for their American right to freedom of expression. They had to perform a play to say the truth.

Nix Violence Against Women Act?

What if a terrorist group decided to let all the wild animals out of all the major zoos in the United States? And what if those wild animals proceeded to eat many people in the surrounding communities all across America? What excuse would the guys who let all the animals have when they were arrested and brought to trial for murder? They knew the animals would eat the people when they let them out.

So is Congress going to be guilty of every black eye and every mangled woman and every dead one? When you let those animals run free and do what you know they are going to do, you are the guilty one. And it's you who should be receiving apt punishment. [Note to Ted Nugent -- I didn't say that activist judges should go out and kill members of Congress.]
